Volunteering team project "Mandarine Land 2023"

The voluntary participation of young people in the "Mandarin Land 2023" project is co-financed by the European Solidarity Corps in accordance with the "Alternative Reality" project of the Cultural Society No. 2022-2-LV02-ESC51-VTJ-000044522

 

What?

WHERE?   Riga, Cultural Society "Alternative Reality", creative center. 

WHEN?   10/01/2023. - 01.03.2023

 

Project purpose: 

* promote children's development and integration into society, especially children from socially disadvantaged groups: students of orphanages, children from crisis centers and disadvantaged families.

We want to reduce discrimination and invite society to become united, paying attention to the development and social inclusion of children, regardless of social or economic status, national or ethnic affiliation.

As a result of the project, a two-day charity and integration festival "Mandarine Land 2023"  is organized for children from 4 to 15 years old, in which at least 300 children from socially disadvantaged groups, children from Latvian orphanages, boarding schools, children - refugees from the Ukrainian war.   

During the events, volunteers will organize interactive events for children, where, in addition to a previously prepared performance, children will also be able to perform various motivating and unifying tasks together, participate in developing activities in the form of an interactive game, and will be introduced to such values as respect, love, trust, friendship.

 

WHAT YOU GET BY PARTICIPATING IN THE PROJECT:

The events will be organized and managed by volunteer assistants, who will gain new experience and knowledge during the event preparation process - in communication, organizing events at all stages, working with children, working in a team, digital skills, creating and distributing event publicity, learning to learn (participants will organize their own learning within the project , including effective planning of time and information both individually and in groups, will understand the need for lifelong learning), Social and civic skills (communicating with people from different social groups, understanding their problems, learning to resolve conflicts peacefully).

In this way you will develop skills and qualities such as 

- Self-initiative and entrepreneurship (offering new ideas in event concept development and implementation, finding new creative solutions)

- Cultural understanding and expression (understanding the traditions of different cultures, getting to know people from different cultures)

- public speaking skills (both by participating in meetings during the preparation period and expressing your opinion, and by participating in children's events as a team leader or game character)

- skills in working with new digital tools such as ZOOM, cameras for filming, technical programs for editing a theatrical performance, programs and digital tools  for organizing a live broadcast, etc.

 

Who can participate?

10 young people from Latvia aged 18-30, including those with limited opportunities and special needs

8 young people from EU countries aged 18-30, incl. with limited options

 

For the duration of the project, travel to/from the project site, accommodation, meals, activity program and daily pocket money are paid for volunteer helpers.

Project goal:

to promote the development and integration of children into society, especially children from socially vulnerable groups: orphanage students, children from crisis centers and disadvantaged families. We want to reduce discrimination and call on society to show solidarity by focusing on children's development and social inclusion, regardless of social or economic status, nationality or ethnicity.

As a result of the project, 10 events are organized for children from 4 to 12 years old, in which at least 300 children from socially vulnerable groups participate.

During the events, children will be motivated to perform team-building tasks, participate in developmental activities in the form of a game, and will be introduced to such values ​​as respect, love, trust, friendship.

Summer integrative training camp for children -

do you want to become an educator?

We have been organizing a training camp for children and juniors from 8 to 16 years old since 2014. Every summer, young knights learn new skills, learn not only to fatten and bow, but also learn to be responsible, friendly to others, learn to communicate with peers from different cultures, learn to behave brutally and ethically.

We will help you to go to the School of Educators, so that you better understand the needs of children, how to act in non-standard situations, how to attract children's attention and make rent a memorable adventure.

It is a responsible but very interesting experience, and the knowledge you gain from participating in such a challenge will stay with you for many years to come, and will probably change your life forever!
