Volunteer Land "Mandarin Land"

This is a social project for children's development, self-growth and inclusion in society, which the Cultural Association "Alternative Reality" has been implementing as an own initiative since 2013.

The project has been implemented since 2013 by the association's own forces, contacting volunteer helpers and partners. Every year, at least 50 to 70 volunteer helpers from both Latvia and European countries take part in our volunteer movement - active people who care about the development of children and the creation of our common future society.

Project activities together include children from Latvian families and children from social risk groups - orphanages, crisis centers, disadvantaged families, children with special needs

The

Project goal:

to promote children's self-development, to unite children from different social groups, to help find a common language, to develop mutual communication, to promote compassion and respect for people with different lifestyles, origins or living conditions.

The

The main priorities of the project - communication, mutual respect and understanding.

The

It doesn't matter where you came from. Important - where are you going.

The

The

Since 2013, interactive Christmas trees, summer sports events and training camps have been organized every year, which are attended by children from Latvian orphanages, primary boarding schools and low-income families, as well as children with special needs.

Since 2013, more than 2,800 children have participated in "Mandarin Land" Christmas events alone, of which 1,600 are children from groups at risk of social exclusion.

The

The

Within the framework of the project, interactive events are organized every year, in which an average of 300 to 600 children participate: children from social risk exclusion groups (Latvian orphanages, boarding schools from remote regions of Latvia for children with special needs, low-income families, crisis centers) Latvian families.

We believe that participating in the project helps children find friends more easily, find new interests, broaden their horizons and learn to be friendly with each other.

During the summer, our team organizes a children's training camp "Mandarin Land" in the style of knights, where children not only relax, but are introduced to new activities, active healthy lifestyle and learn to communicate with each other, creating joint creative projects and developing new healthy skills.

The

The author and organizer of the project is the cultural association "Alternative Reality", which unites creative people who have a desire to develop themselves and help others to develop as well. The project "Land of Mandarins" is implemented by enthusiasts themselves, attracting interested parties, volunteers and supporters.

Many talented volunteer helpers take part in all stages of the event, from animators and children's group leaders to actors and technical and administrative assistants.

The

The project involves volunteers of different ages, religions and nationalities, and we believe that the project unites not only children but also adults. This project shows in a very practical way that people are able to come together and find a common language to achieve a noble goal, and mutual respect and understanding between adults has a very positive effect on the children who are participants in the project.

The

We truly thank all our friends and partners who see life with our eyes and want to make this world better and brighter - for our children.

The

In 2019 and 2020, the development of the voluntary project "Land of Mandarins" has been supported by the European Solidarity Corps. Thanks to this support, we are able to attract young volunteers from different European countries to the project and organize the planned activities for children more effectively.
